Where Have All The Crayons Gone?

It's one of the things about having kids that makes me want to shriek and run around in circles. What happens to the crayons?

Every August, our local Wal-Mart sells boxes of 24 crayons for a quarter. So I stock up. Every time I go to the store, I pick up a few boxes of crayons--heck, what's a dollar or two, if it means the kids won't run out of crayons.

Well, they're gone. At any given time I can only lay hands on maybe six crayons--and that's after searching both the house and the van. I don't see how this is physically possible. I mean, I have brought HUNDREDS of crayons into this house in the past three months. They had to go SOMEWHERE.

I think we have Borrowers, and they are building themselves a colorful log cabin in the woodwork out of crayons.
